FAQ

1.
What machines do you have and what are the sizes? i.e. 40 ton, 80 ton, etc.
Plastasonics has molding machines ranging from 40 ton to 180 ton.  These include:
  • 2 Arburg 40 ton all-rounder which accommodate both vertical and horizontal injection molding processes.  3.5 oz. shot size capacity.
  • 3 Kawaguchi injection molding machines
  • 125 ton injection molding machine  7 0z  shot capacity
  • 140 ton injection molding machine  8 0z shot capacity
  • 180 ton injection molding machine  11 oz shot capacity

Do you injection mold, blow mold, and insert mold?

We injection mold and custom insert mold. We also do thermo set material molding.

3.
Can you adapt previously manufactured tooling to your machines?

Yes.   We often adapt previously manufactured tooling to our machines.

4.
Do you make your own tools and if so out of what material?

Our mold designer and mold makers work closely with our customers and advise as to what type of material should be used for molds.

5.
Do you mold re-grind?

We can use regrind.  However, please be aware that it changes the properties of material if overused.

Do you mold glass fill materials?

Yes.

Can you repair damaged molds?

Yes.

8.
What materials do you normally mold with?

Materials include polycarbonate, nylon, glass filled nylon, abs, polypropylene, high density polyethylene and thermo set materials, etc.

How many people work at your facility and what are your hours?

Staff and hours of operation vary.  While there is a normal 9 hour work day, we often ramp up production hours and staff to accommodate large customer requirement.

Do you do Government Contracts?

Yes.

What Quality system do you operate to? i.e. Standard Inspection, MIL-I 45208A, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO?

No.  We rely on word of mouth, which has been the strength and backbone of our business since its inception.

Plastasonics Inc. was established in 1988.

What other operations, if any, do you perform at this facility?

Assembly work, pad printing shipping, and packaging and consulting,  to name a few.   Please contact us with your requirement and we will advise accordingly.

Yes.

What file formats can you accept?

We can accept virtually all widely used file formats.
